As a ministry of First Methodist Church of Moorestown, First Light Early Learning Center will offer a developmentally appropriate, stimulating and nurturing environment that fosters Christian faith and discipleship. That is our mission and commitment to your child! Our certified teachers provide children an educational experience designed to help them grow intellectually, socially, emotionally, spiritually and physically.

Classes are offered for 2 1/2, 3, 4 year olds, and developmental kindergarten-age children.

Our program is child-centered and experience-based because play is a young child’s work and their natural way of learning. We believe young children need to experience that they are loved, valued and enjoyed.
First Light Early Learning Center is operated under the supervision of a Director and staffed with a certified teacher and an assistant in each class, with a low teacher/student ratio. All teachers have degrees in early childhood and/or elementary education.

Our curriculum follows the New Jersey State Department of Education’s Preschool Teaching & Learning Expectations: Standards of Quality.

• Morning classes run from 9:00am-11:30am and afternoon classes run 12:30pm-3:00pm.
• We offer a Lunch Bunch program from 11:30am-12:30pm that features a variety of themes: art, music, dance, science, and cooking.
• For our older children, we offer a 2-hour lunch Enrichment Program that runs from 11:30am-1:30pm and offers children additional opportunities of learning.
• Our 3-year-old, 4-year-old and DK classes have a weekly music class and our 4-year-old and DK classes have a weekly art class. All of our children also sing weekly in Chapel.

Please note, children do not need to be potty-trained to attend First Light.

Returning in 2025: Summer Extended School Year - more info coming soon!

Registration begins the January before the September start. We strongly encourage parents to set up a tour of the school and of the classroom they are interested in having their child attend. This can be done via telephone, 856-235-6100, or by emailing firstlight@fmcmoorestown.com.

Once you have made the decision to enroll your child/children in First Light, the next step is to fill out the Enrollment Form 2025-2026 and send it back with the $50 non-refundable registration fee. Paper forms are also available in the Preschool office. The Enrollment Form asks you to list in order of preference three options for your child. Class determination is based on order of receipt and certain classes fill up fast. We also give preference to returning students. We will do our best to place your child in your first preference but there are no guarantees. Once your child is placed in a class, you will receive a letter from us letting you know, as well as asking for September’s tuition payment to hold your spot.

Below is a copy of the state-mandated Universal Child Health Record. This form needs to be completed by your child’s pediatrician and returned to us along with a current list of your child’s vaccinations by the start of school in September for new students and at every yearly well visit, thereafter. You will also find the enrollment form, which will need to be filled out and submitted with your registration fee.
